About the Author

Page McBrier is the author of 44 books for young readers, including the award winning New York Times bestseller, Beatrice’s Goat. New releases include her action-packed middle grade time travel novel, Abracadabra Tut, and also One Cow and Counting, her latest book for Heifer International, an organization that works to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.

 

In addition to a busy writing schedule, Page is a designated Teaching Artist for the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, for whom she leads arts infused workshops and residencies throughout the state and beyond. Her fun and engaging programs are designed to encourage and inspire even the most reluctant writers.

Illustrator Karl Gude

About the Cover Illustrator

Karl Gude is the former Director of Information Graphics at Newsweek magazine and at The Associated Press. After a decade at Newsweek, during which he covered a wide range of stories from the how to plant flowers in your garden so that they bloom throughout the day to the World Trade Center attack, Karl moved into academia to teach art and visual storytelling at Michigan State University. 

 

Karl is a visual storyteller, artist and writer who consults with groups ranging from PR firms to the governmental agencies (like the CIA) to help them create understandable information graphics. He also writes a regular column for the Huffington Post has presented at three TED-x talks and given a pair of talks at South-by-Southwest (SXSW), the technology conference in Austin, Texas, on the Power of Visual Storytelling.
